1 Corinthians 13

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 13 May 2012
The Components of Love. Only the Christ of Calvary could have composed and inspired this glorious chapter (penned by Paul) about Christian love, its qualities, its strength, and its eternal crowning. Here are our aims in the experience of love, and why it is so much greater than faith and hope.

Malachi 1.1

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 9 May 2012
The Message of Malachi. The last prophet of the OT challenges Jerusalem's severe spiritual decline, around 425 BC. The trouble lay with insincere ministers, shocking compromise, and sheer lack of commitment. Yet here also are detailed predictions of Christ, of the age of the Gospel, and of the eternal destiny of the faithful.

Psalm 34

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 6 May 2012
How to Apply for Salvation. King David sympathetically and appealingly spells out the terms and conditions of salvation. Speaking from his own experience, he shows what we must believe, what our attitude should be, and how we ought to ask for new life from God. He also describes God's response.

1 Corinthians 12.12-27

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 6 May 2012
The Church is Like a Body. The Apostle speaks of an individual congregation as a 'body', showing the divine design and the wide differences in the contribution of members. If a church is a preacher only, it is ultimately doomed; that is if there are not roles for all, and no mutual care and dependence.

Haggai 1.1

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 2 May 2012
The Purpose and Message of Haggai. The first wave of Jews to return from Babylonian exile had stopped building the temple to focus on their own homes. Haggai brings God's rebuke, revealing how God inhibits the happiness of His erring people, then giving immense encouragement, assurance of preservation, and prophesying Christ's coming and the Christian era.

1 Corinthians 12.1-12

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 29 April 2012
Hearing God Speak. The purpose of spiritual gifts - revealing the New Testament (and authenticating the spokesmen). Paul lists them, with ongoing spiritual gifts and their features. Never for personal indulgence, they bring God's Word to all. Here also is why the church is gloriously called the body of Christ.

John 6.68

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 29 April 2012
The Only Source of Spiritual Life. Belief in Christ is not blind faith. It is based on understanding His message and seeing the authenticating evidences. It follows the discovery that only He has atoned for human sin, and only He has the words of eternal life. A message for all who are searching for meaning.

John 7.1

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 15 April 2012
Why We Refuse Christ. Here is why Christ was rejected by the leaders of the people, and why we too recoil from Him today. These are our mistakes - which make us spiritually lost. Here also, is what we gain when we see who Christ is, and what He has done for our souls.

1 Corinthians 11.17

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 15 April 2012
Lord's Supper Sincerity. At Corinth the Lord's Supper was ruined and invalidated by being confused with a 'love feast'. Paul shows how we should approach the ordinance and what we should derive from it. It is a deeply moving 'proclamation' of Calvary, and either insincerity or absence leads to chastisement from the Lord.

Daniel 1

Sermon by Dr Peter Masters preached on 11 April 2012
Daniel, Prophet of the Exile. Everything in Daniel's exceptional life and ministry arose from his first test on arrival in Babylon. This, with later tests, and his revelations, maintained him for 70 years at the top of an empire, for the preservation of Zion, and for imparting unique prophecies on historic eras and the last times. Here is biblical faithfulness at its noblest.
